I had a patient that pulled the fire alarm at the nursing home. After it was over, we asked her why she did it. She looked at us like we were stupid and said "it says PULL"🤣

You can't reorient them to your reality. You have to get in their reality. Make them laugh. Don't tell them their loved ones are dead. Tell them they went to town adn will be back. Tell them it's snowing outside and it's too bad to drive....things like that. Have fun with them. With dementia, you can laugh or you can cry. Choose the laughter and get to know the "new" them. (from a dementia caretaker of a lot of years)

Great tips but she shouldn’t have filmed her mom. Have some respect.

My grandmother had dementia. One day she said that my grandfather called her on the phone. I replied, "Grandma, he passed away"... She said, "Well maybe it was your step-grandpa".. I replied, he had passed too. She said, "Well I wish they would stop calling me then...." 😆 Sometimes you can't help but laugh...

Excellent advice. I've always told my patients families, you can't change them, you can't fix them, you have to "live" in their world.

I always asked my Dad if I could tag along with him. He was the man who patiently taught me to tie my shoes and how to tell time on a clock he made with a paper plate. How could I not treat him with the respect he deserved
