I didn’t get “the” vax due to my doctor’s advice, based on my medical history & I live a quarantine adjacent lifestyle due to chronic physical health conditions lol. I’m all about helping people & preventing harm but people need to be informed before making medical decisions. Period. And I have every single other vaccination except the Covid one. My kid has all of his regularly scheduled shots. But honestly, even if people just CHOSE to not get this one, but they have all their other regularly scheduled vaccines and so do their kids, then they’re clearly not fckn antivax. I’m so tired of the misuse of words the past few years. One side seems to believe completely that they’re the only arbiters truth. They have the sole authority on what is “moral” and righteous. And many dehumanize anyone who is not 100% ideologically compliant. The amount of times I’ve been told heinous things because I didn’t get vaccinated, is honestly vile. The way they so easily dehumanize others is telling, and people need to pay attention. I’m a moderate pluralist, who has never voted for Trump, but any side that doesn’t allow ANY dissent or deviation in beliefs at all, is displaying a massive red flag. And if they treat ANY dissent as being morally wrong (especially without hearing nuance or context), and handles it instantly by socially exiling them (blocking, banning, dogpiling)… that should concern people. When dissent is not tolerable and ideological compliance is expected, it should concern people. The normalization of political affective polarization should concern everyone.
