To me, late 7th Gen Graphics still & will always look amazing. Graphics continued to get better but never really tried to be realistic. There was a wide variety of art styles, these games look timeless. Mass Effect 3 released in 2012, graphically, aesthetically still brilliant

They don’t. The farther you push fidelity the more everything tries to bleed into realism, unique art-styles get dulled and slowly everything begins to become grey much. Death Stranding, DMC5, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Final Fantasy, etc. These games can be good, and can look good. But it has no affect on the quality of the game. Signalis. hollow Knight, older Capcom games all prove this with timeless art styles that look better than games from current gen that push fidelity. Style >>>>>>> Fidelity

Coach Spo on the clutch game struggles and says the Heat will be better at winning the clutch games going forward: "I'll have to look at the one Tyler tried to scoop with his left hand, we might've been able to get something better out of that but he was terrific in that 2nd half... We're gonna improve in that area, there will be a lot more clutch games in these last 20 plus and we'll continue to get better at them and win these games"

Avowed must have really spoiled me in terms of combat cause Fable looks a little disappointing, the graphics look amazing tho, also I hate the tags at the top, I’m still excited but this melee looks stiff and generic. Damn

In a single gen some Nintendo fans went from understanding and appreciating art styles, to now being smug about graphics fidelity. The irony is Nintendo is still WAY behind on that front. And yes I know fps differs, but Uncharted 4 came out a decade ago (2016).

Why game companies focus on graphics instead of gameplay? 1) the devs must show the game to upper management. They don't play it. They just look at the cut scenes. So to get greenlit you need cool cut scenes that the players will probably skip. 2) the game journalists who review your game only care about screen shots. They will play it for maybe 10 minutes. Superficial looks, not depth, is what they will review. I'm not decrying graphics. Great graphics make a game better. But game play entices players. If devs ignore management and journalists you can get incredible games. Remember Dwarf Fortress? And look at Fallout: New Vegas - really, kind of chunky graphics even for its time, but terrific gameplay. Also neaer-perfect soundtrack.

It's still hard to believe that a game as incredible as Mass Effect came out only 4 years after Knights of the Old Republic. The jump in graphics, gameplay, characterization and storytelling was next level. Playing it felt like watching a movie when I was a kid. Blew my mind!

At which point did we sacrifice realistic physics in the name of realistic graphics? I'm surprised that no Game developer has come remotely close to making an Euphoria Engine of their own, most Games today look beautiful, yet lack any form of realism in terms of ragdoll physics. I'm not criticizing Rockstar here by any means, every R* Game released in the past few years had amazing Ragdoll Physics, I'm simply shocked that no other Game Studio has managed to bring something remotely close to GTA IV Physics even to this day.

NURBS curves (b-splines) are still my favorite spline type. You'll almost always get natural-looking curves out of them. Bezier curves can be useful, but are also really annoying to edit and harder to make the curves look natural.

See if you can spot the difference: Do you really think the only thing that sets these apart is that one has realistic graphics, and the other doesn't? E33 elevated the genre. But instead of celebrating it, the worst side of the JPRG community tried to tear it down

As a kid I would watch this and it was so foreign to me on so many levels. But I could not get enough of it. It was part of what shaped my view of British culture. To this day this intro still fascinates me. Look for the shadows when they move to the table. Brilliant.
