To show how little the Navy values support & logistics: USAF Airlift Command → Led by a 4-star Navy’s Fifth Fleet (20-25 ships) → Led by a 3-star Navy Sealift Fleet (~125 ships) → Led by a 1-star

Nobody seems to be mentioning increasing shipbuilding capacity here in the US as well. It's great having the help of some countries like Japan and S. Korea to build more Military Sealift Command ships, but we should be increasing the capacity and size of existing US shipyards. South Korea's Hanwha Group purchased the Philly Shipyard which could be one major way of increasing productivity and getting more hulls in the water, but we need to invest in more American shipyards as well, and quickly because if there is a major naval war in the Pacific, we are not prepared for it.

What always shocks me about this (and I am an Airlifter through and through)...90% of DoDs movement overseas is by sea. Always will be! You can stack all the C-17s together that the US Owns and that is 1 Cargo ship.

Much talk of supporting Taiwan, but very little talk of how that would be done logistically. There wouldn't be 6 months of uncontested supply build up like in Desert Storm. And planes can't do it.

Got that backwards. You don't have too few stars; they have too many. Too many GOFO with too much rank inflation. I blame alliances. Nobody wants a lower ranked boss.

"I cant do it all domestically." This is true, in the sense that the people on that panel cannot do much of anything. It is more accurate to say that they dont want to allow domestic building.

Could it also be one more measure of how there are Way Too Many 4 stars in AF & Army?
