They know they can’t be the party of woke and mass immigration and so have shun unions’s discussions of changing the flag, Gaza debates and the socialist wing. They want to abolish the carceral state, that means basically police forces and prisons. They want to abolish ICE and grant amnesty for all, they do not support any deportations whatsoever. They want to replace the President and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary that is chosen by and subordinate to Congress. So this would be a total makeover of our constitutional system. They want public ownership of major corporations. They want to defund the Department of War. This is a very radical organization, and you would laugh at a lot of these types of proposals, but you can't really laugh at it anymore because these guys are taking over the Democratic Party. They do not actually see the traditional establishment wing of the Democratic Party as an ally. They see it as an obstacle. A DSA co-chair said, ‘We're using the Democratic Party as a ballot access vehicle, not because we share its goals. And who is the counterpoint? John Morgan of Morgan & Morgan, a Democratic mega-donor law-firm guy warning that socialism leads to Cuba and Venezuela. If the public face of the anti-DSA argument inside Democratic politics is a wealthy establishment Democrat telling people to trust the old Bill Clinton model while sounding like a Cold War PSA, then DSA has already won the optics fight before Ashik even opens his mouth. The worst part is that Morgan is basically right about the danger. He is just the worst possible messenger for it. If I had his ear, I would have told him to stop doing generic “socialism bad” warnings and get specific. Hit DSA on its own record. Hit them on their repeated delegations to Cuba and Venezuela, the praise for socialist regimes, the constant laundering of authoritarian politics through “solidarity,” and the new DSA platform coming this July, which I broke the news on. This clip with James Harr of Means Workwear and James Ray of Philly DSA shows something else, how DSA can function as a target for radical organizing and entryism. Ray is a great example of the kind of organizer who enters DSA not because it is the most disciplined revolutionary party, or even the closest fit for his politics, but because it has the biggest membership base, the most infrastructure, and people he believes can be moved further left. Yesterday, our local DSA chapter hosted an event "MAGA Communism and Red Brown Alliances” that was fully dedicated to smearing the ACP. In their presentation, they misrepresented our party line, maligned us, and lumped us in with people with whom we have no association. The ACP is a Marxist-Leninist Party dedicated to class struggle, the end of imperialism, and the establishment of worker rule, but the DSA wants to waste time calling the Party fascistic all while they back the genocidal Democratic Party and receive billionaire funding.
