Residents of Tshwane, 5 suspects, from South Africa and Zimbabwe, were arrested for stealing electrical cables worth millions of rands at the City’s Forsig Electricity Depot, in Pretoria West. The suspects were arrested by the TMPD Cable Theft Unit who acted swiftly following a tip-off about the robbery. We visited the crime scene this afternoon as Tshwane teams were collecting the stolen cables that were found loaded on a truck near the border of Tshwane and the North West. The second truck was found on route towards Soshanguve. Criminal syndicates continue to test the strength of the City’s security measures. We are pleased that the TMPD is ready to weaken these criminal networks. The protection of our infrastructure is vital and demands that we do our best to protect it against criminals.
