Today at Council, Mayor Whitmire shared an update on this weekend’s Arctic Blast. Freeze conditions may begin Saturday at noon and last up to 48 hours. The City will open 12 warming centers. Residents should prepare now by wrapping exposed pipes and shutting off water.

First sitting of the council and I felt the need to say it straight, The people of this city didn’t elect us just to sit here and continue as usual. There are real questions over the last council, and we were given a mandate to look into it. I raised the issue of the land and assets list that was published. I’ve formally requested a full breakdown, ALL land under council rented out and not, all assets, all details. The mayor has assured me this will be shared & the council under him will adhere to full transparency, thank you mayor Adam Azim, Mayor of Male’ City for the commitment I’ll be following up at the next sitting.And I intend to keep pushing. Whatever comes out of this, I’ll be sharing it with everyone.

There are some calls I just cant say NO too: Commercial emergency calls are one of them Call came in at 8am with a major water leak I was on site by 8:15 personally ( I was close) Got the water turned off and mobilized By 9:30 water extractor was on site By noon plumber was on site By 1pm containments and dehumidifiers were going Within 48 hours it will be fixed, be dry and I will have all the damaged fixed This is a commercial office building - 100+ people work in this building. Speed is all that matters I LOVE this work - fires me up Wonder if a robot will replace it?

Damn. This was refreshing. A The City of Bulawayo councillor stood up and told Mayor David Coltart and his colleagues the raw truth. No sugarcoating. No bootlicking. Just facts. He exposed the scandal of Council auctioning off serviceable plant and equipment, only to rehire the same machinery at inflated prices. One front-end loader, auctioned, is now back doing Council work in the vicinity of Town House. He called out the culture of late reporting . Council officers rocking up at 10 am instead of 8am, with the same lax attitude spreading to interns. He implored the Mayor to crack the whip! He slammed the sight of ambulance and other Council vehicles & drivers idling at shopping centres ,poorly parked and causing chaos for motorists. He reminded them all , this isn’t what residents elected them for. He challenged the overused “Council is broke” excuse, pointing instead to a bankrupt work ethic and lack of commitment. With proper leadership and discipline, Bulawayo can rise again. Nuff respect to Councillor Mxolisi Mahlangu And props to CITE and Zenzele for keeping the public informed. #ServantLeadwrship

Twelve janitors at Alderney Gate are losing their jobs in four days because the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) City Council has decided to go with a cheaper non-union contractor.
