Today at Government House, Asaba, I received the Implementation Delegation from the Nigerian Army Headquarters, led by Major General Thompson Ugiagbe, on a consultative visit to the South-South following the creation of the new 83 Division of the Nigerian Army. I commended Mr. President for this visionary and audacious... step to further strengthen our national security architecture. However, I urged the delegation to give due consideration to Delta State’s unique strategic position as a state that hosts key and sensitive national assets and serves as a critical gateway linking the South-East, South-South, South-West and North-Central regions. For these reasons, I strongly advocated that the Headquarters of the new 83 Division be located in Delta State. This is not merely an appeal for consideration; it is an offer of partnership. My administration is prepared to provide the land and necessary support, including co-funding, to facilitate the effective take-off of the new formation. 63 brigade headquarters Asaba was commissioned in 2019-2020, while 4 brigade headquarters Benin city is decades old. You can't make a newer 63 brigade a division headquarters, to rank above a much older one like the 4 brigade headquarters. There's a reason Benin was picked
