Today marks the 100th anniversary of the premiere of Battleship Potemkin, which took place at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow on December 21, 1925. Sergei Eisenstein on the film's premiere: "APPLAUSE LIKE THE CRACKLE of rifle shots echoes through the semi-circular corridors of the Bolshoi Theater. I am in the corridor, nervous not only about the fate of Potemkin, but about its . . . spittle. For, indeed, its last reel revolved around spittle. Climbing higher and higher, from the orchestra to the dress circle, from the mezzanine to the balcony, driven upward by the growth of excitement, I hungrily and anxiously drink in every sound of the applause. Then, like a thunderclap, it bursts from the entire audience. One — that is the scene with the red flag. Two — that’s the one of the guns of the Potemkin firing at the generals' headquarters in reply to the Odessa massacre. I continue to wander through the empty concentric halls. Not a soul. Even the ushers have gone inside, a most unusual event: here, in the State Academic Bolshoi Theater, for the first time in its history — the showing of a film. Now it will come — the third burst of applause as the Potemkin passes through the admiral’s squadron “flying the victorious flag of freedom." I am suddenly in a cold sweat. And by now it is out of the can and being threaded for projection. Film cement has not been substituted for spittle. Yes — I can tell by the music — the last reel has already started! How can I prevent disaster? In utter confusion I race through the semicircular hallways and spiral down the corkscrew stairs, possessed by a single desire, to bury myself in the cellar, in the earth, in oblivion. The break will come at any moment now! Bits of film will come flying out of the projector. The finale of the picture will be choked off, murdered. But then . . . unbelievable . . . a miracle!! The spittle holds! The film races through to the very end! Bryson DeChambeau is the first reigning major champion to play in India in the last 6 decades, as the International Series will set a new record crowd for a professional golf event in the country. Bryson said about the opportunity: “It’s going to be so much fun. But it’s more than just golf, it’s about creating relationships. What’s wonderful about the game of golf is that you can create and develop relationships and inspire new fans all around the globe. That’s a really great thing.” The DLF golf club offers a unique test, that has received mixed reviews from the players. But Bryson is relishing the challenge “I love it. I think it is going to be a great test of strategic golf. There’s some really interesting shots, I’m not going to be able to hit many drivers. I’ll definitely need to think my way around and I’m excited for that test.” It’s going to be a sell out crowd over the weekend, with more than 20,000 fans expected for the final two days. There is also over 500 already enrolled for a clinic with the US Open Champion tomorrow. These are incredible numbers for Indian golf, and the fans are really showing out. When asked about his game after several months off from competition, Bryson said it feels “rusty”, but he’s feeling “really confident” with how his practice has gone so far. Why do so many people nationally seem to hate Brock Purdy? He has one bad game against the Ravens and people are praying on his downfall? Usually people get behind an underdog story, but nationally, that's not the case with Purdy for whatever reason. He made Iowa State of all schools a nationally relevant program competing in the Big 12. He was passed up multiple times by every team in the NFL Draft and was the final pick of the draft. He made the 49ers 53-man roster as a third string rookie, stepped in as the starter after injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo and went 7-0 as the starter before losing in the NFC title game, where he got knocked out early with an elbow injury. Underwent elbow surgery and came back earlier than doctors had predicted to be ready for the preseason and week 1. He's now 16-4 as a starter in the regular season and going into last night was the odds on favorite to win NFL MVP. His teammates rave about his character and leadership. He's humble and treats people with respect. But many are praying on his downfall and want to see him fail and are now celebrating him having a bad and fluky game against the best defense in the NFL. #49ers #FTTB

82 years ago, on May 18, 1944, Russian special forces deported Crimean Tatars from their homes by force, without warning. Families were given just minutes to pack. At least 200,000 people (most of them women, children and the elderly) were taken by cattle trains to Central Asia and Siberia. Their homes in Crimea were taken by Russians arriving in the peninsula. During transit and in the first incredibly hard years, about half of the deported people died from starvation, exhaustion and diseases. Their culture was systematically being erased, as well. After the collapse of the USSR, Crimean Tatars were allowed to return to Crimea. But after Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014, they are facing systemic prosecution and suppression of their identity. A lot of them fled their homes again. Many are imprisoned for years now. This is a horrible genocide and crime against humanity that the USSR has performed easily and quickly. Russia has never gone through remorse and de-colonization pains. SIMULATION PROVES ONE SHOOTER: Bill Ackman shared a video by Chris Martenson claiming there were two. I believe Martenson is wrong and that Thomas Matthew Crooks was the sole shooter. Here's why: 1. First Three Shots: Crooks took his first three shots from the prone position, with his head and shoulders exposed over the rooftop peak. He aimed carefully, with his first shot hitting the president in the ear. These shots were controlled and disciplined. 2. Next Five Shots: Crooks' next five shots were also from the prone position, but it seemed he pulled back slightly to make his head and shoulders less exposed to the counter-sniper. This would change the sound since the rifle was farther behind the rooftop peak. These shots were taken wildly and without control. The counter-sniper who fired the .50 caliber round that hit Crooks stated that by the time he had him in his sights, he could only see Crooks’ gun scope and the top of his eye and forehead as most of his body was obscured by the top of the roofline. 3. Second Shooter Theory: If there was a second shooter intent on hitting Trump, why would he have fired so wildly? He was never seen by the counter-snipers and was never discovered. Why wouldn't he shoot in a controlled and disciplined manner? It doesn’t add up. Moreover, why was he "allowed" to escape instead of being eliminated to ensure his silence? Convincing people of two shooters wouldn't be any more difficult than convincing them of one. 4. Audio Analysis: Robert C. Maher, a gunfire acoustics expert at Montana State University in Bozeman, analyzed the gunshots. He found that two bursts of shots were fired. Both the first round of three shots and the second of five shots were fired approximately 330 to 390 feet from the C-SPAN microphone Trump was speaking into. This location matched the suspect’s position. There was no significant difference in the sound of the eight shots, suggesting they likely came from the same firearm. 5. Flawed Audio Evidence: Chris Martenson, PhD, relied on audio that showed differences of 30ms. This audio went through multiple rounds of compression on devices with unknown latency, using a mic with directionality (given tonality differences), on a device facing several different directions throughout the clip. iPhones and Android phones use DSPs to process, predict, and filter sounds, focusing on various sources. This reliance on multiple uncontrolled audio sources likely caused the discrepancies. Based on these points, it’s clear to me that there was only one shooter: Thomas Matthew Crooks.
