European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the 19th package of sanctions against Russia. She stated that the crude oil price cap is lowered to $47.6 per barrel. As far as I know, this was already adopted in the 18th sanctions package. Friends, if you know what's the current situation, please let me know. Thank you! Other points: ◾️ EU is banning imports of Russian LNG into European markets; ◾️ 118 more vessels of the Russian shadow fleet are sanctioned (in total, more than 560 vessels are now under EU sanctions); ◾️ energy trading companies Rosneft and Gazprom Neft will now be on a full transaction action ban; ◾️ a transaction ban on additional banks in Russia and on banks in third countries; ◾️ new restrictions on direct exports of goods and technologies used on the battlefield, with 45 companies in Russia and third countries listed.

My thoughts on the whole Norwegian journalist thing Europeans, especially northern Europeans, are rude (by our standards) We Indians are taught to be humble. Stuck in the concept of "atithi devo bhava." We cannot imagine being rude to a guest like that. Europeans know this, and they shamelessly exploit this cultural advantage over us. This reminds me of something Harsha Bhogle said about the famous 2002 Natwest final at Lords in England "We have always harbored notions of telling people ... get stuffed yourself, but we never did it. We were a great talking nation. We weren't a great doing nation. And when Saurav came along and he actually took that shirt off, people said ah...someone's actually done it." It's the same situation with foreign media and India today. Like it was with cricket in 2002. We get angry and seethe online, but face to face, Europeans know we would never talk to them like that. Someone in Indian media has to do to them what they do to us. Someone has to do the equivalent of what Saurav Ganguly did at the Lords balcony in 2002. This rudeness cannot be taught. It cannot be scripted. It cannot be planned. It has to come spontaneously. Go make a cartoon of the Norwegian PM serving drinks on Epstein's island. Dear Transgender Activists, Today was the Million March. I know some of you were concerned about that. But calling parents fascists doesn’t make them like you. It just gives them further reason to believe that your cause is not worth contemplating. Do you know what else doesn’t work? Debating. Why not? Because people don’t make decisions based on logic, they make decisions based on their feelings. If you want people to have empathy for your experience, then you need to share your experience with people. They have to know you. They have to respect you. Humanize yourself. It works much better than waving pride flags. Today I had breakfast with DDSB parents, spoke to a crowd of more than 500 of them, including many immigrants who may never have met a transgender individual before. My message was simple: Parents Rights Matter AND Trans Rights Matter. This message resonates. The vast majority of Canadians ARE on board to defend transgender rights…. But this is never going to happen if we insist on making it one or their other.

Ending Europe's stagnation might be the most important thing in the world right now. Capitalism and liberal democracy have their deepest roots in Europe, but its economic sclerosis is making it irrelevant. • Five US companies spend more on R&D annually than the entire public sector of every European country combined. • Europe's AI sector is worth less than one hundredth of America's. • It is five times more expensive to fire someone in Germany or France than in America. Staff turnover in the US is ten times higher than it is in Germany. • There is no shortage of European entrepreneurs – the problem is that many of them are moving away to set up their businesses. One in ten US startups has a European co-founder. • EU countries shut down 80 gigawatts' worth of coal-fired power plants during the 2010s, with most of the shortfall being made up by expensive, unreliable wind and solar power. • The EU charges about six times more per ton of carbon than China does, and about 50 percent more than California. Most US states don't price carbon emissions at all.
