Today I learned that 600 troops from the Imperial Iranian Army were deployed to South Lebanon starting in March 1978 under the UN peacekeeping force under UNSC resolution 426 to push Israel to withdraw from the area. The troops withdrew after the Iranian Revolution in 1979.
