We, the people of Kasaragod district, are heavily dependent on Mangaluru for education, healthcare, employment, and other essential services. Implementing a second toll plaza within a mere 22 km will unfairly double the travel cost for daily commuters and the general public. This is unjust and unacceptable. To defeat the BJP in Manjeshwaram and Kasaragod, the LDF cross voted, says an INL leader. In Manjeshwaram alone, the LDF lost around 20,000 votes, almost the same as the UDF candidate’s winning margin. So this is the much celebrated “secular Keralam” model. To stop the BJP, the Indian National League, the Muslim party within the LDF, backed the Muslim League, the Muslim party within the UDF.
