This morning, I conducted an inspection of the Udu Harbour Market to assess ongoing construction work. Satisfied with what is on ground, the contractor has assured me and the Udu people of 10 months completion period, but I gave the contractors 12 months to avoid any delay in the job delivery date. This market is key to the development of trade and commerce along this corridor and I have assured the contractors of prompt payment.

At the Ayakoromor Bridge project, I frowned at the slow pace of work and directed the HCW highway & Urban Roads, the functioning PS of the Ministry of Works, the contractor, the Zonal Engineer, and the Site Engineer to be in my office next week for a follow up meeting on the project.

Today, in line with the second pillar of the More Agenda, which is Opportunities for All, I presented 60- 2025 model of Toyota Landcruiser Prado Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and 5 Toyota Landcruiser SUV to our revered traditional rulers at Government House, Asaba. The gesture is to enable them carry out their functions with greater ease and convenience, bearing in mind that most of them operate in very rural and rugged terrain. It is also a demonstration of appreciation by our administration for their role in ensuring peace and stability in their kingdoms and by extension the state and the country. As a government, we are pleased with the support and cooperation of the traditional rulers in Delta State, reason being that, the peace we largely enjoy in this state is because of their cooperation and collaboration with the government and security agencies. At the ceremony, I thanked the Royal Fathers for their continuous prayers and support.

The contractor handling the Abeokuta-Ota-Lagos Road project has almost completed the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the section between Abeokuta and Papalanto, making the journey along this axis smooth and stress-free. With this, the project is essentially complete — 19 years after the contract was first awarded. This is a landmark achievement and a deeply cherished milestone for the Itsekiri people. I was at Aba to inspect a couple of roads that are undergoing rehabilitation. I am happy with the progress of work, particularly at Cemetry Road. The contractor has also taken the initiative to desilt the drainage system, which demonstrates their commitment to ensuring a long-lasting and sustainable road infrastructure. It is worth noting that the rehabilitation efforts extend beyond Cemetry Road, with a total of nine roads currently undergoing partial and comprehensive rehabilitation. All the roads are being handled by reputable companies, including CCECC, Craneburg, and MCC. Regardless of the weather conditions, we remain dedicated to the task of rebuilding Aba for the benefit of our people.

Here's another proof of how corrupt and wasteful Nigerian politicians are! The Delta state Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, organized this multi-million Naira ceremony, as captured in the video, just to announce that he is building a flyover - I mean, an actual ceremony was held to tell the world that the government is constructing an “ordinary flyover.” The flyover, which will be located at Agbor/Uromi junction, is merely 1.3km long and will cost a whopping sum of N59.7 billion (approximately $42 million). Barely a year ago, in 2024, Egypt unveiled a plan to construct a flyover similar to the one Delta state is building, but wider (3 lanes on each side) and arguably will be more aesthetically pleasing. It stretches 1.27km long but costs just about $7.2 million (N10.2 billion). Here in Nigeria, Delta state is expending an outrageous sum of N59.7 billion on a mere 1.3km bridge. How does a flyover of 1.3km cost this exorbitantly? Will it be plated with gold? The only explanation possible is that the imitators and handlers of the project are incurably greedy and corrupt, and their penchant for looting is intrinsic.✍️

Here's another proof of how corrupt and wasteful Nigerian politicians are! The Delta state Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, organized this multi-million Naira ceremony, as captured in the video, just to announce that he is building a flyover - I mean, an actual ceremony was held to tell the world that the government is constructing an “ordinary flyover.” The flyover, which will be located at Agbor/Uromi junction, is merely 1.3km long and will cost a whopping sum of N59.7 billion (approximately $42 million). Barely a year ago, in 2024, Egypt unveiled a plan to construct a flyover similar to the one Delta state is building, but wider (3 lanes on each side) and arguably will be more aesthetically pleasing. It stretches 1.27km long but costs just about $7.2 million (N10.2 billion). Here in Nigeria, Delta state is expending an outrageous sum of N59.7 billion on a mere 1.3km bridge. How does a flyover of 1.3km cost this exorbitantly? Will it be plated with gold? The only explanation possible is that the imitators and handlers of the project are incurably greedy and corrupt, and their penchant for looting is intrinsic.✍️
