Today marks 23 years since Brian Moore passed away. This was ITV’s moving tribute to him shortly after his death. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest football commentators/presenters we’ve ever had. A true gentleman of the game. ❤️

Brian Moore and Barry Davies are in a league of their own when it comes to football commentators.

From the period when commentators were just that. Men who knew the game and provided a backdrop to it. Not the Loud shouty people you get nowadays who drown you in noise and statistics. One of the finest commentators ever.

The best, and there have been some greats, but he's the best of all time

All time No 1

He was kind enough to read out a letter I sent to Big Match on TV. About an incident in a Bristol City game in late 70s. I didn’t agree with what he said so wrote again. This time he sent a hand written reply to me. Wonderful gesture. A great man.

On Cliff Morgan's Saturday morning programme, he mentioned having a "fragile faith" and getting involved in his local church "to give something back" after the great life he felt he had been given. Much missed.

Moore, Coleman, Davies. Best 3 ever in my opinion.

The most likeable of people who carried his position and authority so lightly, the same way he walked among the giants of the game. Brian was an absolute pleasure to know and boy, was he a darn good commentator.

The master! Best ever and really knew football. To be the best commentator but also a wonderful presenter and interviewer is really something special. Brian loved the game and those who love the game love Brian Moore

It must be said that the BBC also honoured Brian Moore. Alan Green commented about how upset he was about Brian’s death.
