Today marks 36 years since this outrageous two footed challenge by Peter Shirtliff on Darren Jackson at Selhurst Park. No red card, no booking, no telling off from the ref, and no protests from the opposition. Just get on with the game. Different times.

Whatever generation it is, joking aside, the ref has had a shocker. It's a red card in any decade.

Weak refereeing to not book Jackson for diving there.

I'm all for a robust game - but for decades, English football was held back because talented players were hacked out of the game by cloggers. I'd sooner watch Beardsley or Hoddle than Vinnie Jones or Kenny Burns

Can only assume everyone thought Jackson was a massive prick and therefore didn’t care
