Oh, please do not turn into subscription based software. That would make impossible to justify.

There are no changes to our current pricing model planned at this time, with all our apps still available as a one-off purchase. Existing Affinity users will be able to continue to use your apps in perpetuity as they were originally purchased – with plenty of free updates to 1/2

Oh noooooooo If Affinity becomes a subscription I will be constitutionally required to delete it, stop recommending it and crap all over it publicly The entire reason people switch to Affinity from Adobe is single purchase

Hopefully they are aware I'm not going to pay a subscription. Or use an online only application.

Canva exploits artists in the form of unethical generative AI. You had an opportunity to be an alternative to Adobe's BS, but alas, you're welcoming the destruction of your own business model with open arms.

I don't consent to Canva having my personal data, what can I do?

Your account information is held by Affinity and is not shared with the wider Canva company. If anything were to change in the future we would always let you know first and any exchange of data would always be on a strict opt-in basis.

AFAIK the vast majority of Affinity users chose Affinity precisely because they were not a subscription. You sold to a subscription-based company. Of course v2 will remain as-is. But what about the future? Now Canva gets to make that call. Affinity's future suddenly looks bleak.

The reason artists and designers switched to Affinity was their excellent one-time purchase model, powerful design suite, and fantastic community. I do not think anyone is too excited about the company being sold to Canva, which thrives on subscriptions.

💀💀
