I've just left the Mater Hospital after meeting health workers from many backgrounds who are genuinely terrified for their own safety and for the safety of their families. They are appealing for those behind these attacks to stop. These health workers are the people who care for us and our loved ones when we need them most. I made sure to share with them the deep appreciation that the vast majority of people have for the work they do every single day

As Secretary of HHS, I worked hand in hand with community health centers to help deliver COVID-19 vaccines, and I saw firsthand the vital role they play by providing preventive care, primary care, and other essential health services. Thirty thousand more are currently studying at Ontario schools, many of them supported by our Learn and Stay Grant, which covers tuition for nurses who stay and work in underserved parts of the province. We need more doctors, nurses, clinicians, and medical technicians in every corner of the state so people don't have to drive hours to get health care.
