"BCH will supply $25 billion in debt financing and $1 billion in equity financing to "innovative Canadian prefabricated home builders." Even if ALL $25 billion were spent on homes, applied to 500,000 homes this would amount to $50,000 each. "Ambitious" is not the word I would use to describe blanketing the country with $50,000 homes.

Conservative MP Kyle Seabeck went straight for the jugular, hammering the Liberals’ housing record. He reminded Canadians that Mark Carney promised to double housing starts. Instead, they’re down 16%. Then came the kill shot: $13 billion for 4,000 homes. That’s $3.2 million per unit. Even Ottawa bureaucrats had to wince at that math. Housing Minister Gregor Robertson tried to laugh it off with the line, “I know the math is difficult for Conservatives.” But when your answer to skyrocketing home prices is to insult the opposition while defending a $13 billion boondoggle, you’ve already lost the argument. Seabeck framed it perfectly: Canadians don’t need more Liberal slogans, they need homes they can actually afford. There is no silver bullet to solving the housing crisis, but we are tackling it from every angle. After a decade of Coalition neglect, Labor’s brought the Commonwealth back into housing with an ambitious housing agenda to make it easier to buy your own home and better when you rent.

After announcing they would increase mass immigration to Canada by 2,485,000 people in the next 5 years, the Trudeau Liberals today announced that over the next 5 years the Canada Lands Company will enable building approximately 26,400 housing units and around 5,300 affordable homes. This announcement is a drop in the bucket and the Liberal math doesn’t add up. The housing crisis will only get worse.
