Today, Syrian forces built embankments and blocked roads at checkpoints around the SDF/YPG-held neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiya in Aleppo. In my view, cutting off all roads to PKK areas would be a smart way to increase pressure on the SDF.

Fighting has resumed in the al Ashrafiya and Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhoods of northern Aleppo as STG government forces are expected to launch a full-scale operation to capture the SDF-held enclave. This comes as last-minute U.S. backed peace talks failed, which would have seen the enclave be handed over to the STG peacefully. The STG is shelling the Kurdish-majority neighbourhoods with grad rockets, and bringing in additional reinforcements.

I visited the Kurdish Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo. My impressions: 📌 The Assad regime mistreated the Syrian Kurds and put them in a ghetto-like area. 📌 The YPG/SDF did nothing to improve services, daily life for Kurds, and forced them to live in such miserable conditions. ➡️ Kurds deserve better than this

⚡️BREAKING Operations Command of the Syrian Arab Army to SANA: We announce the completion of clearing operations in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo. We urge our civilian residents in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood to remain in their homes and not go outside, due to the presence of hiding elements from the SDF organization and the terrorist PKK Civilians may contact the military forces deployed in the neighborhood’s streets in case of any emergency or to report the presence of organization elements.

The Syrian army reached the gate of Raqqa city. If they move in and take the city, the SDF will lose most of its leverage. The smart think to do would be to announce a complete withdrawal from all Arab-majority areas of Syria and to negotiate local security and local governance rights for Kurdish-majority areas. But I somehow doubt the YPG-dominated SDF can be that realistic and pragmatic.

🚨 Breaking | Operations Command of the Syrian Arab Army: We announce the destruction of Target Site No. 12, which was previously published on the broadcast and platforms of Syrian Al-Ikhbariya. It is confirmed that this site was a large ammunition depot belonging to the terrorist PKK militias and the terrorist SDF militias. The so-called “Internal Security Forces affiliated with SDF” in the city of Aleppo issued a lengthy statement claiming that the targeted site was a hospital. In reality, the targeted site is not a hospital, but rather a large ammunition warehouse belonging to the terrorist PKK militias and the terrorist SDF militias, which has been destroyed, and explosions are still continuing at the site as of now. We affirm that the Syrian Arab Army opened humanitarian corridors, extended deadlines multiple times, and published these maps solely to protect civilians and ensure their safety — not the opposite. Meanwhile, the terrorist PKK militias and the terrorist SDF militias continue targeting, killing, and injuring our people in the city of Aleppo. Note: You have been provided with another video published moments ago by a resident of Sheikh Maqsoud showing the ongoing explosions at this ammunition depot. #Syria #Aleppo #PKK #SDF
