You’re basically buying their energy for data centers, Finns will pay the price at the end with high electricity bills

Make sure the new nuclear power plant with Fortum gets built!

@grok so how many new data center locations will Google have in Finland?

Big for EU

as we Finns say: Torille!

That is a massive commitment to European infrastructure. It’ll be interesting to see how this shifts their overall footprint in the region over the next couple of years.

It’s hard not to notice that Finland’s exceptional reputation for reliability and competence plays a role here. Not every European country inspires the same level of trust for major strategic projects. That kind of confidence is rare 😎

Jobs/GDP claims vs. construction-phase vs. long-run operating economics

@ektrit news like these, how to interpret? Further integration into *real* supply chains? Or a net energy consumption away from something real? They bought half the lifetime energy creation of an Olkiluoto 3 class reactor I think

yoooo lets goo we welcome your investments with open arms!!

Allergic to the word data center now? 😂 Building everywhere else in the world where people don't understand the repercussions after people in the US start to refuse. Surely won't poison the land.

So now you gonna pollute Finland with your AI data canters ? Fuck you.

Based. I wish you’d build in my backyard too.

@E_Boeminghaus @thinkBTO @Nuklearia €13 billion commitment. Unterstützung für circa 37000 Jobs, 22-year power purchase agreement

This investment marks Google's largest single investment in Europe. Awesome!

if my electricity bill gets even more expensive because of this ill kill myself

@killedbygoogle image this lol

Why not invest in the US instead?

Faceți și în România vă rog. Mulțumesc

Pairing the campus with the clean energy commitment in one announcement is the part worth noticing. Contracted megawatts ahead of energization is what makes a site buildable. Cold air and a grid with real headroom is a much shorter list of places than most people assume.

Nice. Better do that and not help in war and genocide, thanks.

The quieter Finland detail: Fortum needs demand certainty for a ~€1bn Loviisa life-extension, and Google’s PPA is its first nuclear deal outside the US. AI load isn’t just chips—it’s multi-year offtake that keeps plants open and grids bankable.
