The fight for HIV medicines taught the world that science only saves lives when it is shared. Today, that lesson is at risk of being forgotten. But we are on the verge of an HIV prevention revolution—we still have the chance to end AIDS by 2030. This is a watershed moment in the fight to #endAIDS as a public health threat. A price of $40 per person per year is a leap forward that will help to unlock the revolutionary potential of long-acting HIV medicines. Gilead Sciences now needs to match that ambition by reducing its price for #lenacapavir, being completely transparent on cost and pricing, expanding its generics license to include all low and middle-income countries, and allowing more people in developing countries to rapidly access these life-saving medicines.

Earlier today, we flagged off surgeons under their Association for this year’s medical camp in selected districts across the Buganda Region. I thank our surgeons for their continued dedication to serving Ugandans and for making this important initiative an annual commitment. There are many patients in need of specialised surgical services, yet access remains limited and our health facilities are often overwhelmed by the numbers. These medical camps help bring services closer to the people, ease the burden on facilities, and ensure more Ugandans can access quality surgical care when they need it.
