Happy New Years to #Guelph! Today, Justin Trudeau arrived to announce that our application to the Housing Accelerator Fund was successful & he left behind $21.4 million dollars to unlock & incentivize over 739 new housing units which, yes, include affordable homes, & thousands more in the years ahead! Thank you to staff, council & the community partners that are trying to get more housing built!

Did you guess creating another level of government called Build Canada Homes Carney says it will dothe following: • help fight homelessness by building transitional homes • expand community housing for low income • partner with private sector to build homes for the middle class • create a new housing industry using modular housing.

Today, I officially launched the Chester Creek Housing Development in partnership with Wihcon Limited. This project will deliver quality housing solutions for Jamaican families and increase the supply of homes in this area. Chester Creek forms part of our national housing strategy to expand access to home ownership and support orderly community development. Housing is central to social stability, economic growth, and national development. My Administration remains focused on working with private sector partners to accelerate housing delivery across Jamaica. We will continue to advance projects that provide practical solutions for our people.

One year ago we signed the first deal to change how we build homes in this country. Since then, we've worked with communities all over Canada to legalize housing, and to make it faster and easier to build homes. We’ve worked to build more homes near transit, more homes for students, and more homes at prices folks can actually afford. The progress is picking up across the country. In Halifax, there’s been a 40% increase in building permits in the last year. In London, starts increased by 65%. In Kitchener, they donated land to help create 10,000 homes. Over in Brandon Manitoba, they created incentives to get builders building more homes in their downtown, while the City of Saanich focused on pre-zoning university-owned sites so that students can live closer to where they study at the University of Victoria. We've got further to go, and we’ll keep working to get you into a home, faster. Stay tuned for the next round of Housing Accelerator Fund deals!
