All commerce apps eventually need good search. Most platforms require a third-party tool which adds complexity and costs. Medusa Search comes out of the box on Medusa Cloud, available on all plans starting today.

Medusa17 days ago

Medusa Search supports keyword search with typo tolerance, faceting and filtering, and highlighting. Additionally, semantic search is offered for accurate and contextually relevant search results.

full-text plus semantic is useful. search still lies when inventory regions and catalogue fields aren't true

Roman Shuper17 days ago

As I understand it’s not typo-tolerant, correct?

Semantic search alone doesn't cut it. Neither does brute-force grep. Agents need both. Today we're shipping the Retrieval Harness in LlamaParse Index: semantic search, server-side grep, and file-level navigation working together in a single agent reasoning loop. 🦙🌤️ Grep a file, list what's in an index, read past a chunk boundary, run hybrid search with reranking — all as native agent tools. Now in beta across all paid tiers. Full breakdown in the blog 👇 Learn More:

The official Medusa 2.0 release is next week and Workflows is a big part of what makes 2.0 flexible and reliable. Really like this component back from the beta release of Workflows - does a great job of explaining how to custom durable executions in Medusa.

Today, we’re launching the Parallel Search API, the most accurate web search for AI agents, built using our proprietary web index and retrieval infrastructure. Traditional search ranks URLs for humans to click. AI search needs something different: the right tokens in their context window. Parallel’s Search API is built from the ground up for AI agents, resulting in higher accuracy, lower costs, and lower latency for end-to-end agentic workflows.

How do computers understand data? With semantic search! Instead of just matching keywords, it understands context using vector embeddings. Here’s how: 1) Convert data (text, images, etc.) into vectors (embeddings) 2) Store these vectors in a vector database 3) Search by meaning, not just the keywords Semantic search makes finding data across formats easier. Learn more in this blog post by leonie, my all-time favorite:

Andrew Ng + Google showed the foundation behind modern "RAG", "Graph RAG" and semantic retrieval: • 12:00 - turning text into embeddings that capture meaning • 24:00 - visualizing semantic relationships between vectors • 35:00 - using embeddings for classification, clustering and outlier detection • 50:00 - controlling LLM generation with temperature, top-k and top-p • 1:04:00 - semantic search with ScaNN • 1:15:00 - combining retrieval + an LLM into a RAG-style Q&A system - 84-minute deep dive, and one of the clearest explanations of what happens underneath retrieval systems The progression is simple: Text → Embeddings → Similarity → Semantic Search → Retrieval → LLM Answer Most people jump straight into RAG frameworks without understanding this layer Andrew Ng starts one level lower and shows why retrieval works in the first place Watch it today, then read the full "RAG → Context Graphs" roadmap below
