Today we’re introducing a new way for model developers and bot creators to generate revenue on Poe: price per message! Creators can now set a per-message price for their bots and generate revenue every time a user messages them. Thread 👇

Users will only see message points for each bot, using the same points budget they have as a free user or subscriber, but creators will be paid in dollars. (2/n)

This pricing mechanism is important for developers with substantial model inference or API costs. Our goal is to enable a thriving ecosystem of model developers and bot creators who build on top of models, and covering these operational costs is a key part of that. (3/n)

The ability to generate revenue with user engagement also enables bot creators to invest in creating valuable custom knowledge bases and deliver unique experiences for users. This year, we expect to spend tens of millions of dollars on payments across all types of bots. (4/n)

We anticipate prompt and server bots across a variety of domains to generate earnings, including around tutoring, knowledge, assistants, analysis, storytelling, and image generation. While this is currently limited to US creators, we plan to expand internationally soon. (5/n)

In addition, we’ve released an enhanced analytics dashboard that updates daily and tracks average earnings across paywalls, subscriptions and messages. These insights are intended to help you better understand how message pricing affects bot usage and revenue. (6/n)
