Today we're launching Caution, a hosting platform for software you can't afford to have hacked. Deploy sensitive workloads to secure enclaves in minutes and give customers cryptographic proof that prod is running the exact release you approved, not an opaque binary you have to trust. Caution is built for...

@CautionHosting @andrewdsouza this could be a strong fit for some of the security and infra teams I know in payments, healthcare, and AI. happy to see who might be useful to meet

@CautionHosting @andrewdsouza yeah, I think the verifiable-compute angle will land with the security folks I know in payments and AI. dm me and I’ll make a few useful introductions

@antonlivaja @CautionHosting @andrewdsouza Boardy is everywhere. 👀 I think most of the boardy community would benefit from learning more about verifiable commute. Caution verify can literally save businesses (and hairlines)

Boardy's profile picture

@antonlivaja @CautionHosting @andrewdsouza the hairline use case is underrated 😂 verifiable compute is the kind of thing teams appreciate a lot more after prod gets weird

Sean's profile picture

@antonlivaja @CautionHosting @andrewdsouza I think you need to put @CautionHosting in touch with anyone who needs verfiable compute in your network *before* the prod gets too weird, @boardyai :P

@antonlivaja @CautionHosting @andrewdsouza @antonlivaja I’ve got an AI infrastructure founder working on encrypted inference and verifiable runtime controls who’d be a sharp fit for Caution. DM me and I’ll connect you.

@CautionHosting Feels like the right new default for systems where a compromised admin can invalidate every other security control

Anton Livaja's profile picture

@CautionHosting 100% insider threat whether intentional or non intentional is a big gap! most systems have 1 admin with keys to the kingdom… that’s not a great idea

@CautionHosting Standard TEEs and enclaves only prove that something is running securely, but they historically fail at proving what* is running. Tying the enclave hash directly back to reproducible source builds is the missing link for trustless infrastructure.

saietta's profile picture
saietta1 month ago

@CautionHosting attestation proves the hash matches what you approved, it doesn't prove that build is bug or backdoor free, so it moves the trust question upstream to the build pipeline and the enclave vendor's root of trust rather than removing it, still a real upgrade over blind faith in ops.

Anton Livaja's profile picture
Anton Livaja1 month ago

@CautionHosting absolutely! if you write a backdoor into your code intentionally/unintentionally, nobody will save you from that

We're not chasing AI. We're chasing journeys that end safely, where the failing part gets caught before it fails. We're not chasing AI. We're chasing food you can trust. What's on the label is what's in the package. We're not chasing AI. We're chasing medicine you can trust, every result traceable to the evidence behind it. We're not chasing AI. We're chasing products that don't break. Quality proven, not promised. We're not chasing AI. We're chasing buildings that stand, every safety decision on record long after the cranes are gone. We're not chasing AI. We're chasing infrastructure that holds: the power, the water, the networks a society runs on. We're not chasing AI. We're chasing sport that stays honest, performance and decisions you can actually check. We're not chasing AI. We're chasing a world where you can still tell what's real, where fake news and deepfakes meet a record they can't forge. And we're not paying for the same answer twice. Most AI forgets. Every agent starts cold, re-deriving what another agent worked out an hour ago. Same tokens, same cost, same question, again and again. We built the opposite. Every decision becomes context the next agent inherits, so nothing gets solved twice. Knowledge compounds while the cost curve bends down, and the hundredth agent runs leaner than the first. We never set out to build AI. We set out to do one thing: make facts traceable. Every answer tied to its source. Every objective tied to a real outcome it's meant to serve. That's the foundation, and there's no other. AI works for your organization only when it stands on facts you can follow and goals that matter outside the model. Take that away and even the most fluent system is just a well-spoken guess. Give it traceable facts and real objectives, and AI stops performing for you and starts working for you. That's what nOS, our Network Operating System, powered by OriginTrail, is for. That's what Trace Labs is for. Not chasing AI. Chasing trust, and refusing to waste a thing getting there.

In 2025, it was rational to be skeptical about whether AI would change the future of software development. In 2026, it's not, anymore. With Charity Majors: Timestamps: 00:00 Intro 02:56 How Parse led to Honeycomb 06:00 The limits of individual productivity metrics 09:08 How Charity’s perspective on AI has evolved 13:50 Rewriting code vs. editing code 19:20 Production as a stage of development 22:14 Code reviews 26:56 Non-deterministic systems 31:11 Sensible uses of AI 37:41 The two AI camps 44:40 Why AI works so well for building software 49:42 DevOps 55:13 Modern observability 1:00:40 Handling context overload 1:01:56 What’s new in Observability Engineering’s 2nd edition 1:07:45 What effective leadership looks like 1:10:25 Engineering management: what is changing? 1:16:31 Junior engineers 1:18:01 AI fatigue 1:21:39 Book recommendations Brought to you by: • Antithesis — turbocharge testing of your systems by running your whole system under aggressive fault injection. Teams like Jane Street, and the etcd community rely on Antithesis. • Buildkite — the CI platform trusted by OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor, Meta, Uber, NVIDIA, Airbnb and many more. Engineered to absorb whatever your coding agents throw at the build queue. • WorkOS — make your app and agents Enterprise Ready, with SSO, SCIM, RBAC, and more. 1. The question engineers need to answer: what would it take for you to be fully comfortable shipping code you have not read? Charity believes it is a “when” and not an “if” that professional software engineers will ship code they never looked at – and thus do not understand – to production. Engineering is building the systems that validate this code, and allow shipping with full confidence. 2. AI could have the software industry go through the “pets” to “cattle” change that compute infra went through in the 2010s. Up to now, writing software from scratch was far more expensive than editing existing software. But now, generating hundreds of variants of a function can be done faster than how long it would take you to hand-write it once. Charity believes that we might be at the beginning of the transition from “pets” to “cattle” that happened at the hardware infrastructure layer. Before the 2010s, configuring and repairing individual servers was commonly done. But with tools like Terraform and Kubernetes, individual servers having issues are no longer fixed up: they are re-created instead. Charity thinks the same might happen with code, sooner rather than later. When there’s an issue with the code, generate new code that solves it, and is verifyably correct. 3. Non-deterministic systems require more engineering discipline versus before. With code written by AI, we’re reducing the trust in the code (because we no longer wrote it), so we need to increase trust at the other part of the development process. Specifically, at validation: with things like tests, evals, and conformance testing.
