17 March 2005: 21 years ago, the Pakistan Army launched a massive bombardment on the small town of Dera Bugti, using heavy artillery, gunships, and fighter jets. More than 70 people were killed and over 200 injured, including women and children, among them family members of Shaheed Nawab Akbar Bugti. Hundreds of homes were destroyed, and thousands were displaced. Since then, the army’s campaign has continued, expanding across Balochistan. Today, we remember and pay tribute to the victims of this tragedy.

The #SuperCyclone made landfall near Paradip between Ersama and Balikuda with the highest wind speed of 260 kmph. Torrential rain, tidal waves as high as 6-7 metres and flood wreaked havoc across the Odisha coastal region, killing over 9000 people, mostly in Jagatsinghpur district. However, the unofficial death figure is believed to be way higher than this. In the Odesa region, a woman was killed and at least three injured when Russians targeted the area, striking commercial kiosks, a hotel, Ukrposhta, Ukrtelecom, a cultural center, an administrative service center, and private cars. In the Dnipro region, artillery and drones set homes and farms ablaze: a residential building in the Kryvyi Rih district, another house in the Nikopol district, and private property in the Synelnykove district were all hit. These are not military targets. They are families, homes, and the essential systems that sustain daily life. Russia’s strategy is the systematic destruction of civilian existence in Ukraine. The world must recognize this for what it is, state-organized terror. Every delay in strengthening Ukraine’s air defense means more lives lost, more homes destroyed, and more families shattered.
