CNN has been sold to MAGA Billionaire. Warner Bro’s Discovery (WBD) has agreed to be acquired by Paramount Skydance in a major deal. The deal would transfer ownership of WBD (including CNN) to Paramount Skydance, led by CEO David Ellison (son of Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, a billionaire with close ties to President Trump).

British culture minister Lisa Nandy clearly intends to intervene in the Paramount-WBD deal, and if she moves forward, the probe will be a significant hurdle for Paramount to overcome.

There are 4 key TV archives in the US: ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN. This is the footage filmmakers use to tell our history. If Paramount buys WBD, two of those archives (including 45 years of CNN footage) will be under the editorial control of 1 company and likely 1 person, Bari Weiss.

What does the potential WBD Paramount deal mean for AEW? "There's very little overlap between the subscriber base of HBO MAX and Paramount Plus. If they do merge and merge subscriptions... the new streaming service would have much more viewership which in a sense would mean more people with access to AEW than ever before. A lot more." - Dave Meltzer
