Today's White House meltdown started when Zelensky confronted JD Vance for saying that the US will be "engaging in diplomacy" to end the Ukraine proxy war. Zelensky responded by arguing that Putin can't be trusted, and challenged Vance with a question: "What kind of diplomacy, J.D., you are speaking... about?" If Zelensky wasn't such a devoted warmonger, he'd know that one of his negotiators, Ukrainian diplomat Oleksandr Chalyi, has already answered his question. At the Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Istanbul of March-April 2022, Chalyi later recalled, the two sides “managed to find a very real compromise” and “were very close.. to finalize the war with some peaceful settlement.” Putin, he said, “tried to do everything possible to conclude [an] agreement with Ukraine.” It was Zelensky that chose to walk away from that agreement, after the Biden admin and Boris Johnson urged him to. Zelensky says he needs nuclear weapons or Nato membership to keep Russia from attacking the west. Would you support giving nuclear weapons back to Ukraine?

This wasn't some organic disagreement. At best, it could've been prevented if Vance hadn't jumped in. At worst, it was theater.

Zelensky came with photos etc. He never was going to make any deal. The only way Zelinsky survives is WWIII.
