THREE staff members at Covenant School were armed. The shooter still killed three 9 year olds and 3 adults. Adding MORE guns is not the solution.

Because if they are an indispensable part of our security, we should stand with them if we can. And that doesn't mean to say joining every action they do. I mean, for example, I don't think this was ever going to happen — if they seriously considered taking Greenland or something, of course you wouldn't have said yes to that. But this is action in respect of Iran and we were being asked for support, not to be part of the military action.

Why is it that despite so much activity, legislation to ban knives, so much investment in mental health, we’re seeing more violence on our streets. What is causing this? Lots of people will be speculating - I think we should wait until more facts emerge. But there’s clearly something going wrong in our society right now, which I believe all politicians of all parties need to have a conversation about.

We share a firm belief that all who profess progressivism must work together to deepen our democracy, strengthen security, and transform our economy. We discussed the bold reforms underway, the need to stay the course, and the importance of tackling insecurity through both decisive action and inclusive opportunities for our teeming youth. Our administration will continue to partner with every state that is serious about human, social, and economic development because Nigeria’s progress is strongest when we work together.
