Tokenization could be crypto's next big win, but what if institutions never need your tokens? "For years crypto had a pretty simple sales pitch. The institutions are coming. The money is coming. The entire financial system is coming. And if you get here before everyone else, you will be...

exactly this. just because everything will be tokenized, doesn't mean the token will be worth something more. you'd think the altcoin armies would understand this by now.

Exactly. Being right about tokenization does not mean every token captures the value. I want to know where the fees and cash flows go. @SixColourz is one of my first checks when the story gets ahead of price.

That’s the key split: institutions can adopt tokenization while value accrues to issuers, custodians or private rails, not public-chain tokens. The test is whether the token is needed for settlement, collateral or fee capture, not just whether assets move onchain.

Chamath’s 2026 IPO Advice: Get Public Fast or Get Left Behind Jason: “ What are your thoughts here on the flurry of potential IPOs?” Chamath: “I think that we have a bit of a risk problem. If you think about appetite as equivalent to a person at a Thanksgiving dinner, when you first come in and you see all of this stuff, it's so plentiful, your eyes are bigger than your stomach. And I think in a moment like that, you want to be the one that is consumed first. And I think the risk increases when you are at the tail end because the risk is that the diners will run out of space.” Jason: “Plate fills up. Yeah.” Chamath: “And if you use that analogy, I think the reason why people's plates will get full is probably twofold and maybe threefold. The first and most important thing is there's enough tactical event risk that people generally want to be risk off and have more margin of safety. We have a lot of these really important financial moments tied to this concept of AGI, ASI. We have a real pricing problem. If AGI is real, the durability of most companies is slim to none. If AGI is not real, then the fundraising capacity of these companies that are now raising hundreds of billions of dollars needs to get questioned and inspected thoroughly. History will sort out which one is right, but both cannot be right. So in that vein, I don't think we're going to have this “blockbuster” stream of IPOs. I think what happens is SpaceX is going to get out. They're going to do great, and then maybe the next one does good to great, then the next one will do good, and then the appetite runs out because you just can't absorb, incrementally, trillions of dollars of new demand. And if you think about it, where is it going to come from? Is it going to come from the sidelines? I don't know, I think it's more of a reallocation exercise. But if you look at the S&P, well, most people are now defensively moving away from these kinds of things, towards the things that are more protected, what the industry calls HALO, right? Those things trade for zero today. You could buy hundreds of millions of dollars a year of cashflow for 2-5x right now in the stock market. And so why are you going to go way out on the risk curve and buy something at 200x revenue, let alone earnings? I'm more in the camp of, I think it's good to be first, it’s pretty decent to be second, but if I were you, I would get the heck out, and get public, and get your money, and fortify your balance sheet ASAP, because I think the risk builds the further down the IPO chain you're in.”

Avichal Garg on the three crypto categories he's investing in "One is, I think the store of value chains are still very interesting. So for us that's primarily BTC and ETH. I think those have ascended into sort of prospective store of value territory. Effectively fixed supply, easy to subdivide, easy to transfer, all the check marks that you would want. And they appeal to different communities." "The second category is anything that has some sort of fee mechanism built into it and deals with financial assets and transactions. You could put SOL into this, put HYPE into this. Our take on those has always been that you have to be very mindful of the fees, you have to think about what the fee take rate is, and then you treat it like an equity." "These are assets that take fees in dollars and make them available to people all over the world who don't have access to dollar instruments. So if you're in Vietnam, if you're in Nigeria, if you're in Turkey, you can buy into these things, and you may not be able to get actual US equities." "To own a piece of a thing that produces US dollar cash flows and can effectively give you a distribution of US dollars in the form of buybacks is a really valuable thing. And the way that the market will express that is a much higher PE ratio, in my opinion, than you get on the US equity markets, because the buyers have fewer alternatives." "Then there's this emerging category of applications that use these primitives that could not otherwise exist. Applications that essentially use distributed compute, confidential compute, zero knowledge proofs and proof generation. Some of those things will look like companies, some of those things won't even look like token networks."
