President Trump said today that he was "shocked" that Iran fired back on 10 regional countries after the US and Israel opened the war of choice against Iran. He apparently also didn't believe his own intelligence analysts who warned that the regime would not collapse because of missiles, nor did he believe the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff that there would be serious risks to starting this war. That is nowhere more painfully evident than the self-inflicted dilemma Trump faces with Iran's effective closure of the Straits of #Hormuz. The global price of oil hovers around $100/barrell because huge amounts of Persian Gulf oil cannot pass through the Straits, creating a supply problem. Trump has tried threatening Iran, but that hasn't worked. He's tried coercing our allies, but to date France, UK, Spain, Germany, Italy, and the EU have all refused the president. Some are suggesting Trump can order a ground operation to try and secure control of the Straits or some of the key islands.
