In my opinion, if we look a little further ahead than, say, a day or two, the question is: Will this war end with an agreement or a unilateral ceasefire? It must be said that there is a very interesting development behind the scenes, which is that Hezbollah is pleading with the Iranians that any agreement or ceasefire—even a unilateral one, which is, of course, just a phrase, as there is always some sort of coordination behind the scenes—will also include an end to Israeli fire on Hezbollah. That is what Hezbollah is telling Iran. Israel, on the other hand, is telling the United States that there is no chance of that happening—it will not happen—because Israel’s strategic goal in 2024 was to sever the links between the Gaza and Lebanon fronts, and it succeeded in doing so, and its strategic goal in the Lebanon sector in 2026 is to sever the Tehran and Beirut sectors.
