For the swimming pool sequence in 'He Ran all the Way' (1951)- the final film of John Garfield, a stunt double was hired for him, because he had suffered a heart attack several months before, and swimming underwater was not recommended for the heart. But on the day of filming, Garfield eventually decided to do the underwater swim himself. It took 10 takes for the scene.
