Mew : Looking at the lyrics, the first verse starts from the moment of waking up. I wrote it when we were on a cruise, we went to the Caribbean together. The image of sunlight shining on his face, that messy, bedhead look right after waking up... just how incredibly cute he was 😆 Mew : The next verse talks about things we’ve experienced together, such as when we went traveling and missed a train. When we look back on it now, it’s actually funny. Or when it suddenly started raining and we didn’t have an umbrella, so we had to take off a shirt and cover ourselves. A test audience, who saw "Top Gun" (1986) before it was released were annoyed that there was no love scene in the movie. Five months after the production had wrapped, the producers summoned Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis to Chicago to film the infamous elevator scene and the s€x scene. During their time away from the set, McGillis had lost approximately sixteen pounds, and Cruise was filming "The Color of Money" (1986), so his hair was much longer in those two scenes. McGillis' hair was also much darker. That's why she hid it underneath a cap in the elevator scene & in the lovemaking scene, it was all silhouette because of the colour of her hair.

Patrick Swayze coached him beforehand on how to do it. Right before filming the scene, Cruise nervously approached writer S.E. Hinton and said he was afraid he would be unable to do it because he felt nauseous from overeating at lunch. Alfonso Cuarón on how this continuous shot in "Children of Men" (2006) was clinched in the final attempt & the "Miracle" that occurred while filming: "Interviewer: When Theo runs into a hollowed-out bus in that shot, blood splatters on the camera lens. Can you tell me how that happened? Cuarón: Initially, there was going to be blood splatter on the lens when they ki!!ed Julianne Moore. We were going to add that digitally. But long story short — or long story long — is that for [the refugee camp] shot, we had like 14 days to shoot the whole set piece, except by day 12 we hadn’t rolled cameras yet. As you can guess, by day three that you don’t shoot camera, they send a production guy from the studio to visit you. By the sixth day that you haven’t done it, the creative executive comes to visit you. Well, by the time that you reach the 11th day, the head of the studio is there. That kind of stuff. And the problem is that we had only two shots a day to do the thing. The morning, then you have to reset the explosions, the screams, the whole thing. Five hours to reset. So you only have another shot right before the light goes away. And the problem is that, we could not extend it to the 15th day, because there was already a commitment with the army or something, one of those things. So we are in the 13th day, and in the afternoon, we do our first shot. Then after a minute and a half, it just was wrong. So we had to reset for the next day. The next morning we do the first take, and everything is perfect, and we’re about to reach the end. We were running towards getting inside the building, when [camera operator] George [Richardson] tripped, and so the camera fell. So we only had one more shot for one more before we have to move out. It was the end of my career. Interviewer: Were you panicking at that point? Cuarón: You know, at that point, you’re just focusing. Interviewer: Okay, so you get to the final attempt at the shot. Cuarón: And when we arrived at the bus, the camera goes in, and blood splatters the lens. With my little monitor, I see that I cannot see anything. In 2007, Nike assembled Kanye West, Nas, Rakim, KRS-One & DJ Premier to create a hip hop anthem to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Air Force 1 sneaker. “Rick Rubin did the original, and word on the street is they weren’t satisfied with the outcome, says DJ Premier. It was a whole different tempo, and a whole different approach. Rob Stone said they might actually want to remix it. Actually, KRS-One called me and said, ‘Yo, I need you to help fix this record.’ Then I saw the launch on MTV, and I figured that’s over with, when they launch the sneaker and everything. Then all of a sudden I got a call back again two or three weeks later saying, ‘Yo, they still want you to do something.’ So they sent me the parts, and everything was different. Kanye, Nas, and KRS did the joint to the Rick Rubin beat. Rakim wanted to make his own beat. So he made his own beat, but at the wrong tempo. So when I got it I had to tweak it to get him to that tempo, but still keep him in the same tone of voice. You can do that with technology. So I had to keep him in the same key. He was at a 100 rpm, but it was 107, so that’s a big step. So I stay tuned in the same zero note that he pulled, sped it up, and it matched. Then I just pieced the whole thing together. “For the video, Rakim came here, and we turned all the lights down, and just made it really dark. Since he’s the only one who came here, when you see the play back, it’s ill. We shot him just with the acapella so we can bring him back in. This is how it went down. Matthew Vaughn struggled to find distributors for "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" (1998). Every distributor who saw the movie, rejected it. The only offers he got were to release it on VHS. Somehow, Vaughn managed to find a distributor to show the movie in two screens in England. He asked Trudie Styler, who had already put money into the movie to convince Tom Cruise to attend the buyers screening in the USA. The screening was conducted in a tiny room. When Cruise turned up, all the mid level executives who were sort of disinterested, started to pay attention; They rang up the senior executives & they too joined the screening. BACK STORY: A teacher friend told me this story about teaching kids words with different suffix examples and when he asked his students for words ending in “an”, a grade one student said “lesbian”. No big deal but the writers and I thought it would be funny to run with that a bit. So we wrote the cold open as you see in the photos of the script. On the day of filming, two of the writers, Shebli Zarghami and @Jessie_Gabe came to me and suggested we add “words that end in “on”-prostitution”. So I ran with that and the kids and I improvised what you see in the scene. At that point, we were done with the scene and very happy about it. In my opinion, what Jessie and Sheb suggested next is what made the scene go viral BUT, we were too late because they thought of it AFTER, we had already shot (videoed) the kids. I spoke with Keith our director and suggested it was worth grabbing a wild line (no camera) of adding one more word suffix and joke that Jessie and Sheb thought of: “Words that end in “re”- crack whore”. It would be take too much time to turn all the cameras around to shoot Faith saying two works (crack whore) but I thought the line was so funny, that it was worth grabbing it. So we did and the that’s why you don’t see Faith saying the line but for me, it took the scene to another level. On this show, we always added lines on the day from anyone who had them, especially the writers. We wrote great scripts but sometimes we found these little moments on the day of filming that added to the scene. We never stopped looking for the funny and in this case the instincts (and comedy) of Jessie and Sheb took this scene to another level!! #MrD
