89' playoffs against the #2 Jazz against # 7 Warriors & upset them by x & o's of Nellie. Nellie had Mullin guard 7'4 Mark Eaton on defense in that series & upset the Jazz with 3-0 sweep. Did it again with 'We Believe' team with the Mavs. Nellie will always b a Warrior legend.

Not trying to throw shade at Kerr who is a GOAT in my book, but I think Don Nelson might actually be a better coach for this version of the Warriors. Nellie had a knack for taking flawed, unconventional rosters and making them surprisingly good. Kerr's greatest strength has always been taking already great talent and elevating it to a championship level. They're different coaches built for different situations.

Tommy, I might embarrass you a little, but my fave Nels story: My Mom worked for a co that had season tix to the Dubs, 6th row, directly behind the Dubs bench. Nels pulls you out and bellows at the top of his lungs "READ THE GODDAMN PLAYBOOK FOR CHRISSAKES!!" Unforgettable RIP

Sorry, the best story is when he was coaching practice with his hog out!!! or when you and the Razor were interviewing him and a woman dropped her scarf and he interrupted the interview saying miss miss your scarf.
