January 2017: #49ers owner Jed York was asked if he should be dismissed after they finished 2-14, and he fired a head coach for a third straight year. York: "I own this football team. You don't dismiss owners." The #49ers then hired Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch with six-year deals, allowing them to build the roster their way without interference. Rest is history.

Do the 49ers need to make a change at general manager and move on from John Lynch? Lynch is not close to being in the same tier as some of the top GM’s in the NFL: Howie Roseman, Les Snead, Brett Veach amd John Schneider. The 49ers have missed on a lot of 1st round picks under his watch and they’ve had some horrible selections in the middle rounds, especially with crucial team building picks in the third round. Some of the free agency signings have not panned out and the contract extensions for some of the home grown players have been whiffs. I think it’s worth discussing. #49ers

You know me, I’ve been pretty steady that I’m not a believer in the 49ers and what they are. Kyle Shanahan pretty much confirmed why the 49ers draft process is flawed and broken. On the Rich Eisen Show, he explained that he only has time to watch highlight packages of draft prospects for two months before the draft. That’s not abnormal for a head coach. Their job is to coach the team and the grind is non-stop from late July through January and February. But when Shanahan has as much personnel say as he does, and he’s the one making the picks, that’s when it becomes a problem because the 49ers aren’t leaning on the GM and scouting department who are scouting these prospects year-round. This is a big reason why the 49ers have missed so often in the draft and from 2020-23, the Niners drafted 27 players total, but only four got multi-year second contracts with the team. #49ers

49ers fans: I know you hate the Seahawks with every fiber of your being, but it’s OK to admit that Seattle is a damn good football team. Give credit, where credit is due. What John Schneider and Mike Macdonald have built is impressive. Even if the 49ers had Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, George Kittle and Mykel Williams, they still don’t go into Seattle and win that game yesterday. Why? Because it wouldn’t have changed the fact that the Niners are weak along the OL, have no team speed on offense and that’s led to Mike Macdonald owning Kyle Shanahan. The Seahawks from week 1 to now are a completely different team. They remade the roster last offseason. What the Niners did this season is highly impressive. What the Seahawks have built is what the 49ers have to stride toward dethroning. The Seahawks are probably going to win the Super Bowl.
