At a city planning meeting where normally only a handful of people show up, we had over 200 citizens packed the room. The director said in his 30 years, he’s never seen it that big or that diverse. Regular folks — young, old, Black, white — all showed up to put their vision for the city on record. History.

Albert Mejías, the Venezuelan prospect from the 2030 class who is set to make history on the international market. At just 13 years old, he already has a pre-agreement with the Yankees for a record-setting $7.0 million bonus ($6.4M + $600K in educational scholarship). “He is the best player in the history of the international market. He could play in a professional league right now. At his age, no one was doing the things he does.”

$A 20-YEAR-OLD JUST BROKE EVERY RECORD A24 HAS. a movie based on a YouTube creepypasta just had the biggest opening in A24's history. Backrooms made $81.5M in the US and $118M worldwide in three days - more than triple A24's old record. the director is 20 years old. - Kane Parsons made the original "Backrooms" as a viral YouTube short in 2022, at 16 - he's now the youngest filmmaker ever to have the #1 movie in America, breaking a record that stood since 2012 - biggest opening ever for an original horror film AND for any first-time director - made for ~$10M. already hugely profitable - 86% of the audience is under 35 and he wasn't alone. the same weekend, Obsession ($750K budget) climbed for a third straight weekend - and both films outsold a $165M Star Wars movie. two filmmakers in their twenties, who started on YouTube, just beat Lucasfilm with movies that cost a fraction of its budget. the gatekeepers spent decades deciding who gets to make a movie. a 20-year-old just uploaded his way past all of them.$

She Wore a Saree Before She Wore a School Bag👌🏼👏🏼👏🏼😍🥰😘 A tiny girl, barely four years old dressed in a crisp beige saree, walks confidently onto one of India's grandest stages. No nerves. No hesitation. Just quiet, unshakeable grace. She collects the National Film Award for Best Child Artist from the President of India and in that single moment, rewrites history forever. Her name is Treesha Vivek Thosar. And she just broke a record that stood for over six decades. 🎬 She acted at three. She won at four. Treesha played Chimi in the Marathi film Naal 2 an innocent rural child, full of wonder. She wasn't performing. She was living the role. At an age when most children are learning alphabets, she was moving a national jury with raw, natural emotion. 🏆 She broke Kamal Haasan's 60-year-old record. The legend himself posted publicly "You've beaten my record! I was already six when I got my first award.

OTD, 2022: It's seventh heaven. Artemi Panarin lifts the #NYR over the Penguins with the third G7 OTG in club history. Bedlum on Broadway. This team became the first in NHL history to record three consecutive comeback wins in elimination games within the same series. Historically, the NYR improved to 4-0 when forcing a G7 after trailing a series 3-1, and improved to 10-6 all-time in G7's (8-1 at MSG).

It’s #SunDay! Here’s your space weather report for the week of Jan. 30 – Feb 5: - 72 M-class flares (!) - 6 X-class flares - 33 coronal mass ejections - 0 geomagnetic storms This video from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) shows the week’s activity. SDO ended its Earth eclipse period this week just in time for an uninterrupted view of a barrage of solar flares! This week, one active region in particular — AR4366, which rotates onto the Earth-facing disk of the Sun at the beginning of this video — unleashed a whopping six X-class flares this week, and all but three of this week’s 72 M-class flares. This one is worth a watch!🤩

It’s official - a 70 year old record has been washed away ! 🏆 With the 6.79 mm of rain we’ve seen today, July 2024 will go down in the history books as the wettest month ever recorded at Toronto Pearson, according to historic data provided by Environment Canada. 🌧️ In total, 214.8 mm of rain fell at the airport this month – of which, 97.8 mm fell on July 16 alone. 🤯 Today's rainfall pushes us past the previous wettest month of October, 1954 when Hurricane Hazel passed through the GTA, bringing the monthly rain total to 213.8 mm and setting the now broken record for the wettest month since records began. 💦

General George S. Patton’s 🫡 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Third Army was 50 miles from Prague in May 1945. Czech fighters were rising up against the Nazis, begging for help over the radio. Patton was ready to drive east, liberate the capital, and finish the job. Ike said no. He halted U.S. forces at the Plzeň line, deferred to Soviet demands, and left Prague to the Red Army. “Don’t risk American lives or upset Stalin” was the logic. Military caution won. Political foresight lost. The result? Czechoslovakia fell under Communist rule for more than four decades. The Czechs who fought for freedom in 1945 got Soviet tanks instead of American ones, a one-party state, and the Iron Curtain. Patton saw the opening. Eisenhower closed it. History doesn’t care about careful coordination when it costs a free nation half a century of tyranny. Patton wanted to take Prague. Ike left the Czechs to the Communists’ mercy. #Patton #WWII #Prague1945

I believe the bar for greatest recruiting class ever starts at 2014 for Penn State. Bo Nickal, Jason Nolf, Anthony Cassar, Nick Nevills and Shakur Rasheed. You will be hard pressed to find a class that has not one but TWO, three-time NCAA Champs/four-time finalists (Nolf and Nickal). They added another NCAA Champion with relatively unknown Anthony Cassar out of New Jersey. California big man Nick Nevills made the podium twice, while Shakur Rasheed proved effective from 165-197, placing once at 197 pounds. This group was part of a core nucleus for Penn State that won four team titles as well. Nolf and Nickal were preposterous bonus point scorers, 61 pins and 27 techs for Nolf, 59 pins and 12 techs for Nickal. Combined record of 235-6. For me, that's the bar! Which class do you think is better? IS this the greatest recruiting class of all time?
