The reason that you don't have certain excellence that you want is because you are afraid of getting criticized. You are afraid of the judgment that comes with it. You are afraid of standing out. There are 2 categories of things in this world: 1) Things that are up to you 2) Things that are not up to you Which category does your reputation sit in? Your reputation is not up to you. I'm the one who associates your reputation with something, not you. You just do things. What's up to you? How you act. Your decisions. Your actions. That is up to you. Your reputation is not up to you. Here's how I know that: You all have a reputation about me and it's not in my control. I get to say and do whatever I say and do up here. And when were you going to stop and do what makes you happy?” Look, we all have bills to pay. We do what we have to do to make ends meet and put food on the table. Providing is something to be proud of, but… Don’t sacrifice your dreams along the way. Don’t wake up at 50 (or 60) and realize you’re no closer to your best life than when you started. 👉 Treat your job as a means, not an end. Slowly—over years and decades—gain more control. Become the person you are on vacation. That’s the real you. Now you’ve got a life you don’t need to escape. (P.S. I’m not talking about living a life of leisure. Humans need work and skin in the game. The goal isn’t to retire—it’s to choose your work and do it on your terms. That’s as good as it gets.)

You could have talent, but if you don’t have discipline, and you don’t execute, you don’t focus… What do you get? Nothing. If you’re complacent and not paying attention to detail… What does that get you? Nothing. So nothing is acceptable but your best.” This is a harsh reality of life: Talent is meaningless without discipline. Ambition is worthless without execution. Focus is the difference between potential and reality. You’re not entitled to success—it’s earned in the quiet, thankless moments when no one is watching. The antidote to entitlement is relentless ownership. Show up fully. Pay attention to the details. Do your best—every single day. Because in a world where everyone wants the reward, it’s those who refuse to accept anything less than their best who build something worth being proud of.
