Why can't we simply identify as Congolese without adding prefixes? Poverty and poor leadership are the main issues we need to fight. We should also stand against those who benefit from division among us. Here are some notable figures: 1.Laurent Nkunda: A former general in the Congolese army, Nkunda became a prominent rebel leader, founding the National Congress for the Defence of the People (CNDP) and leading significant military campaigns in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).  2.Sultani Makenga: Serving as the military chief of the March 23 Movement (M23), Makenga played a crucial role in the group’s activities in eastern DRC.  3.Bosco Ntaganda: Known as “The Terminator,” Ntaganda was a key military leader in various rebel groups, including the Patriotic Forces for the Liberation of Congo (FPLC) and later the CNDP and M23. He was later convicted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes.  4.Eugène Serufuli Ngayabaseka: A politician who served as the governor of North Kivu province from 2000 to 2007, Serufuli was influential in regional politics during his tenure.  5.Jean-Marie Runiga Lugerero: He served as the political leader of the M23 rebel group during its early stages, playing a significant role in its political strategies. 6.Bertrand Bisimwa: Succeeded Jean-Marie Runiga as the political leader of M23, leading the group during critical negotiations and transitions. 7.Jules Mutebutsi: A former colonel in the Congolese army, Mutebutsi became a rebel leader associated with the RCD-Goma faction and was active in South Kivu. 8.Gabriel Amisi Kumba: Also known as “Tango Four,” he served as a general in the Congolese army and was previously associated with rebel movements before integration into the national army. 9.James Kabarebe: A Rwandan national who served as the Chief of Staff of the Congolese army under Laurent-Désiré Kabila before returning to Rwanda, where he became the Minister of Defense. His role in Congolese affairs was significant during his tenure. 10.Azarias Ruberwa: A prominent politician, Ruberwa was a leader of the RCD-Goma rebel group and later served as one of the four vice-presidents in the transitional government of the DRC from 2003 to 2006. 11.Thomas Lubanga: Founder and leader of the Union of Congolese Patriots (UPC), Lubanga was a key figure in the Ituri conflict and was later convicted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes related to child soldier recruitment. 12.Mbusa Nyamwisi: Leader of the RCD-Kisangani/Mouvement de Libération (RCD-K/ML) rebel group, he later became Minister of Foreign Affairs in the transitional government. 13.Antipas Mbusa Nyamwisi: A rebel leader who became a significant political figure, serving as Minister of Decentralization and Urban and Regional Planning. 14.Roger Lumbala: Leader of the RCD-National rebel faction, he later became a member of parliament in the DRC. 15.John Tibasima: A political figure associated with various rebel movements, he held positions within transitional governmental structures. These individuals have played pivotal roles in the complex political and military landscape of the DRC over the past three decades.

My sister, please, if you live in the DRC, the only place where you’re really in danger is in the province where Kagame’s regime and his M23 puppets are looting our resources, attacking, and killing people. They’ve been spreading terror for 30 years, and we say: enough is enough! There are already so many displaced people. Other provinces in the DRC don’t face the same situation. You can live peacefully there with other tribes (there are about 450 in the DRC). No Mulenge is going through this anywhere else except in M23-controlled areas. Now that I’ve proven your story wrong, take a moment to think. We all know that in Rwanda, people don’t have the freedom to speak about politics. You’re just repeating what you were told to say. But it’s never too late to ask God for forgiveness for disrespecting the millions of lives affected by this.

Part of the problem is that Banyamulenge themselves have trouble defining themselves, they’re 🇷🇼 or Congolese when it benefits them. They can’t pick a side and stick to it.

@CyrilRamaphosa @Julius_S_Malema This is a land issue as well, while Banyamulenge have been in Congo since the 15th century, they have always been refugees from today’s Rwanda. Congo has since recognized and given them citizenship. The problem now is that they want to take land away from their rightful owners.
