ON SECURITY “The Sambisa Forest is 60,000 km². It is bigger than the whole of Belgium, which is 30,528 km², bigger than Denmark, which has a country area of 42,933 km², and bigger than Switzerland, which has a country area of 41,285 km². To do surveillance in Sambisa Forest means the FG would be doing surveillance over an area equivalent to Belgium, Denmark, and Switzerland in terms of land size, considering the resources we have at hand. The same Sambisa Forest is smaller in land size than Niger State. These criminal elements exploit these ungoverned spaces. That’s why Mr. President initiated the forest ranger program, which will help curb those who are using our forests for illicit purposes.”

🇷🇺 After crushing the Kiev forces “counteroffensive” on the Sumy front, the Russian army is advancing along a broad front ▪️ The operational situation on the Sumy axis for the Kiev forces continues to deteriorate. ▪️ Russian troops recently broke into Andreevka from the north and advanced toward the center. ▪️ Units of the “North” force grouping had earlier fully regained control of the Konstantinovka area and began fighting for Kondratovka, taking it in a pincer. ▪️ Area of advance over the past few days is about 3 km², and over the past week more than 20 km². ▪️ During the latest offensive operation, the area brought under control north of the city of Sumy has noticeably increased to over 230 km², with another roughly 50 km² of the region considered a “gray zone.” ➖ “Over the past two weeks, Russian troops have managed to take about 21 km² of territory in various parts of the region, including areas near Kondratovka, Yunakovka, Grabovskoye, and Andreevka,” local sources admit.

Mogadishu–Jowhar Road Mogadishu–Afgooye Road Are two of Somalia’s most important infrastructure projects in recent years. The project covers approximately 112 km: around 90 km from Mogadishu to Jowhar through Bal’ad, and another 22 km from Mogadishu to Afgooye. The project was launched in February 2019 under the administration of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo. It was financed by the State of Qatar through the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), with approximately $200 million in infrastructure funding associated with the project. Construction was carried out by the Turkish company EN-EZ İnşaat. The roads are especially important because they connect Mogadishu with the two Shabelle regions, some of Somalia’s most important agricultural areas. Farmers and local communities in Afgooye, Bal’ad, Jowhar and surrounding areas gain better access to Mogadishu’s massive consumer market and its port, making it easier to transport and sell locally produced food and other goods. Beyond agriculture, the project improves mobility, creates jobs, reduces transportation barriers and strengthens economic links between the capital and surrounding communities.
