When my husband and I first got married in the Presbyterian Church (built in 1856) here in our sleepy coastal town in South Carolina USA, I was starting to be heavy groomed to join the international Rotary Club. We no longer participated, They made it very clear that we weren’t welcome in that church. It was pretty eye-opening about how close I ‘danced’ with that world. On the surface, it looks so innocent and vanilla like it was just a bunch of board southern housewives pulling fundraisers having luncheons. Be careful because it’s closer than you think.

The most disturbing part: It was well documented more than 20 years ago in a book by Fiona Barnett. The media mocked her, called her a nutcase. She made her book freely available. Names and places - it's all in her book.
