BBC Panorama’s explosive Married At First Sight investigation pulls in 1.5 million viewers — while launch of MAFS USA attracts just 250,000 The BBC One documentary The Dark Side of Married At First Sight, which aired allegations of rape and sexual assault by three brides against their on-screen husbands, was watched by 1.5 million people on Tuesday night. In stark contrast, the new series of Married At First Sight USA on E4 managed only 250,000 viewers on its UK launch the same evening. The Panorama programme featured shocking claims from three unnamed brides, including one who alleged she was raped on the sofa after repeatedly saying no, and another who said she was raped before the show even aired. All of the accused men strongly deny the allegations. Channel 4 said it has commissioned an external review of welfare and safeguarding protocols on the show following the claims.

In stark contrast, the new series of Married At First Sight USA on E4 managed only 250,000 viewers on its UK launch the same evening. The Panorama programme featured shocking claims from three unnamed brides, including one who alleged she was raped on the sofa after repeatedly saying no, and another who said she was raped before the show even aired. All of the accused men strongly deny the allegations. Channel 4 said it has commissioned an external review of welfare and safeguarding protocols on the show following the claims.
