Mrs Thatcher hasn't been in power for 40 years. The deindustrialisation lies at the feet of Union demands, strikes and mass walkouts, collectively they destroyed the mining, steel, shipbuilding and car industries in both Scotland and England. Devolution has been around since you were born and for the past 19 years of your life there has been an SNP "government" in power....the industrial base has worsened since then with the exception of shipbuilding which is reliant and thriving on UK MOD orders only, unlike the passenger ferry orders which go mostly to Turkey or are 10 years in the making and rust buckets which are still not fully in service.
