I’ve done this with my phone and binoculars, and I got some pretty good shots out of it, not of the eclipse though. You kind of need something solid to rest it on.

just be in the moment. experience it. there will be thousands of professional images of eclipse. Why everybody has to have their own on their phones. Forget camera for 5 min, remember it in your brain.... live it. and not just eclipse- everything!
