Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly considering leaving Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr in the summer, with a return to Europe or a move to the MLS considered potential options. The 40-year-old, who, on a contract worth £488,000 per day, is the highest-paid footballer in history, began a strike earlier this week. Ronaldo is claimed to unhappy with the manner in which Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) is handling Al-Nassr's finances, particularly in comparison to how they are treating rival clubs. The PIF controls a 75 per cent stake in four Saudi Pro League clubs — Al-Ahli, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal and Ronaldo's Al-Nassr — and has been the driving force behind the league's ability to attract some of world football's biggest names on lucrative contracts. Al-Hilal completed the signing of Ronaldo's former Real Madrid team-mate Karim Benzema on Monday, moving from fellow Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad. Al-Hilal are currently one point clear of Ronaldo's Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, with the veteran Portuguese star said to believe his club have not been treated fairly in the transfer market. According to Portuguese newspaper Record, Ronaldo's frustration has led to him considering leaving Al-Nassr in the summer. The report claims Ronaldo has a £43million (€50m) release clause, with the veteran having 18 months to run on a two-year deal he signed last summer. It remains to be seen whether any club would look to trigger the release clause, given Ronaldo is set to turn 41 on Thursday. It is claimed that a return to Europe or a move to the MLS could be possible options for Ronaldo. Two women are carrying women's basketball on their backs right now, and neither one of them works in the league office. Caitlin Clark brought the audience. That is not a talking point, it is arithmetic. She moved ratings, sold out arenas, and dragged a league that had been ignored for twenty-five years into the center of American sports conversation. The new CBA that lifted the minimum salary above 300,000 dollars and quadrupled the cap does not happen without the money she generated. Every player in that league got a raise because one woman from Iowa would not miss. Sophie Cunningham gave the audience a reason to stay. She said girls should not have to compete against males. And she has been standing in the open taking incoming ever since, while the institution she plays for has not managed to say her name. Look at what happened to the people who showed up for her. Two sixteen year old girls wore XX-XY shirts to a Storm game and held a sign that said thank you Sophie for speaking up for girls. They were booed. A fan yelled security, take the trash out. Two women tried to trip one of them in the aisle. A team co-owner screamed obscenities at them until one of them cried. The league fined that owner and suspended her five home games, which means the league conceded every fact of it. Teenagers. In an arena. For a t-shirt. So think about the actual scoreboard here. Scientists suspect that at the threshold of death, the human brain may display activity patterns similar to memory replay. One published study reported intriguing findings from EEG recordings of an 87-year-old patient who died of a heart attack. The study observed elevated gamma brain waves, which are often associated with memory, dreaming, and conscious thought. This phenomenon is sometimes referred to as a “life recall experience,” in which a person subjectively feels as if they are replaying moments from their life immediately before or after the heart stops beating. New Restaurant Next: The McDonald's two-window setup (cash/present) has been a core foundation of our drive-thru for probably over 40 years. It looks like it may be changing. The new design is shifting to a one-window setup with a pull-forward window (with conveyor belt, see post below). New LED signage can direct cars to which window their order will be at. My operations hat is still churning in my head on this but I’m open to it if it’s customer focused & easier! Notice the new scales built into the assembly area as you look in the window to help ensure accuracy. #McDWW26

The Five Sisters Cup will feature 4/5 tall ships designed to a common specification by Blohm & Voss in Hamburg, Germany. Each barque has 3 masts, and a crew over 250. Gorch Fock II 🇩🇪 Eagle 🇺🇸 Sagres 🇵🇹 Mircea 🇷🇴 The Gorch Fock I, Eagle, Sagres, and Mircea are 1930s contemporaries. The first three were purpose-built training vessels for Germany with Mircea built for Romania. After the war, the German vessels were redistributed as reparations. Gorch Fock II was built as a replacement for Gorch Fock I in the 1950s. Unfortunately, Gorch Fock I is no longer seaworthy and currently resides in Stralsund as a museum. The last time all these ships saw one another was for the 🇺🇸 Bicentennial in 1976. Gorch Fock II claimed the Five Sisters Cup then, but who will claim it in the days ahead?

From International Space Station, we have a unique vantage point to observe lightning storms from directly above them. Much like from the ground, they appear as rapid, intense flashes that are over as quickly as they started. But, with the help of handheld cameras and a bit of practice (and, admittedly, some luck), we can capture these intense flashes with a very high frame rate then slow them down to see how the lightning propagates. It's lightning, in slow motion. This is one that occurred over Indonesia on 6/28. I shot it for a half second at 1/120 frame rate, so, 60 separate frames. I then compiled those frames into two videos: the first, in real-time, and the second, slowed down so that each frame is a half second to highlight the progression of the flash. Note the incredible burst of light in one frame, which includes what is likely a TLE on the upper left. A TLE, or Transient Luminous Event, is an electrical discharge that happens in the upper atmosphere above lightning storms (if you haven’t seen Ferry Farhan TLE photo from last week, head over to her page). As their name implies, these are transient, or short lived, phenomena – it appeared in only one frame of the sequence, lasting for no more than 1/120th of a second. The last photo is that single frame. Absolutely incredible.
