What you don't understand is that the German cars are either 4wd/AWD or RWD whilst the Corolla is an FWD , FWD cant climb steep rugged hills in drive because their centre of gravity shifts to the back.. to counter that that experienced driver made that drive in reverse

I remember once being the only car able to get up huge hill in my Toyota Corolla during a snow storm leaving BMW X3 and other big SUVs in stuck. The way down the hill on the other side was fun, I had to use my hand brake and brake pedal alternately to stop going down sideways. Toyota Corolla is one of the best cars I've ever owned - Miss it.

How on earth do you compare a Mercedes GLS450, BMW X5 and Toyota Corolla? What’s the criteria? You should at least compare the first two - since they are SUVs, not the third since it just a sedan.
