The things that seem like absolute bedrocks, or even axioms of political thought, can cease to exist. Breakup of Soviet Union also means that 1990s in Russia happened faster there than here. Time goes faster there than in US. That means that things that are going to happen in US start to happen faster there, such as political postmodernism or return of a certain kind of fascism or oligarchy. So the end of Soviet Union shows that things can come to an end, but it also shows some of the possibilities of 21st-century politics which we then wade into ourselves later on.
