I mean, you can calculate a trade balance, but it's an utterly irrelevant figure to benchmark economic performance, both theoretically and in practice. There's no correlation between a country's trade balance and it's performance.

So the American lumber company that gets undercut by subsidized Canadian lumber that's cut with lower wages, where is the win win for them?
