Traditional authorities in Takoradi stormed several businesses within the traditional area earlier today to enforce the council’s directive for the closure of all business operations for the observance of the royal ‘Apitse’ purification ceremony.

Some cocoa farmers in Akim Etwereso in the Akyemansa District of the Eastern Region have staged a protest against traditional authorities over alleged attempts of a forceful takeover of a 200acre farmland. The farmers, calling on the government and COCOBOD have revealed that the chief and traditional authorities intend to destroy the farms for the construction of a residential estate.

Serious v!olence erupted in Kwahu Abetifi earlier today when one Obaapanyin Yaa Asantewaa, posing as the Abrewatia of Kwahu, stormed the area with armed men who were disguising themselves as National Security officers in an attempt to destool the Acting President of the Kwahu Traditional Area/Abetifihene, Nana Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III. According to reports, the armed men, pretending to be National Security officers, escorted Yaa Asantewaa to the Abetifi Palace, where they detained Nana Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III and transferred him to an older palace nearby, where she performed traditional rites to destool him. This sparked anger among the local youth, who quickly gathered, with many young individuals brandishing weàpons, ultimately leading to the capture of the impostors. Traditional leaders in Abetifi immediately took action by performing traditional rites, officially reaffirming Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III as the chief and reinstating him at the main Abetifi Palace. Calm has been restored in the area following the intervention of the police, military, and Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Hon. Bryan Acheampong.
