Congrats to the Kimi.ai team! This is awesome. Great to see this level of research coming from open-source frontier model labs. I liked the paper so much I built a Rust implementation of it ;) Full AttnRes + Block AttnRes with two-phase inference, built using Burn (tensor library and Deep Learning Framework, in Rust, by Tracel AI). Runs on CPU, CUDA, Metal, wgpu. Includes an interactive TUI that trains a model live and visualizes depth attention evolving from uniform to selective in real time. Repo link and more on what is implemented in the comments.

In the AI era, the traditional biopharma industry is the underdog. Big tech and AI labs are building wet labs. China has overtaken Europe in molecules produced. But the tools available to the industry discuss science, not do it. The hard problem in AI for science is at the interface between the physical and digital worlds. We built an AI Scientist at that seam. It wires together the digital and physical worlds of R&D. Predictive models, data infrastructure, wet lab execution feed into a single loop that reasons, acts, and improves with every experiment. Our ambition: get molecules to the clinic twice as fast. Last fall I wrote about why biotech needs to be rebuilt for the AI era. Today I'm sharing the next chapter: what the AI Scientist is, a blueprint for how it works, and why even Richard Feynman couldn't hack it in a wet lab.

The German Federal Innovation Agency is running a €125m competition to fund 3 new Frontier AI labs in Europe! "Next Frontier AI" is a pan-European initiative led by SPRIND, Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation to create three globally relevant Frontier AI labs. It starts with a €125m challenge where up to 10 teams receive funding over 24 months to build frontier-lab capabilities, including team, infrastructure, prototypes, evaluation discipline, and early pilots. The best-performing teams will then receive structured support toward raising ~€1 billion each. Europe has some of the top AI companies in the world, but as a continent we are massively dependent on frontier labs from other countries. This initiative seeks to change that and I am HERE FOR IT.

Experimenting with wrist controls on smart glasses Using our Wearables SDK, we can display a 3D wireframe A-Frame scene on compatible smartglasses (in this case the Brilliant Labs Frame running our custom firmware) We’re also using our SDK to control a virtual cursor with our Ukaton motion module strapped to our wrist, running an Edge Impulse model to detect pinches There’s a lot of third party hand control accessories we could use (TapWithUs, Doublepoint, and Mudra Band), but using our own hardware/software is great for creating custom gestures

What used to take a team of 4 three weeks to pull off and cost over $15,000 is now possible for less then $3. These unknown team from the UK solved this and it’s finally out to the public. The major problem with creating design visuals with normal AI prompts; was that after every iteration; it starts to change a part of the design, the brand icons starts to change, the ratio changes, the logo starts to flips if it’s not horizontal. It’s hard to keep things consistent, that’s why so many design studios can’t use AI for designs. And these folks finally solved that, and totally crashed the market. Now vibe coders, companies and startups can cut down brand asset designs costs by over 99% and still retain consistency. Interesting time we live in.
